Narrative:
Copied ATIS information on VOR frequency 115.7. Both the captain and I 'heard' the altitude setting as 3041 and set that value in the kollsman windows. There is too much noise on VOR frequencys with static and identifiers etc. To safely use these frequencys for ATIS critical information. Although we caught this error before an incident occurred, it could have resulted in a serious altitude deviation. Recommend we discontinue use of VOR for ATIS information broadcasts.
