Narrative:
Prior to takeoff a frontal system passed over the airport. Wind direction changed and velocity increased. Temperature dropped from 38 degrees F to below freezing in 15 mins. After takeoff the landing gear would not retract. In addition I was getting erroneous readings on the altitude and airspeed. Requested departure control to permit a return to the field. Tower then issued a special VFR clearance to land at oakland pontiac airport. Landed without incident. All indications are that the sudden temperature drop caused the moisture in the static system to freeze, disabling the system. Gear would not retract as it is tied in with the airspeed to prevent retraction at low airspds.

Title: AN SMA IN A RETURN LAND SITUATION AFTER EXPERIENCING PITOT SYS ICING, AND, FAILURE OF LNDG GEAR TO RETRACT AFTER TKOF.
Narrative: PRIOR TO TKOF A FRONTAL SYS PASSED OVER THE ARPT. WIND DIRECTION CHANGED AND VELOCITY INCREASED. TEMP DROPPED FROM 38 DEGS F TO BELOW FREEZING IN 15 MINS. AFTER TKOF THE LNDG GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. IN ADDITION I WAS GETTING ERRONEOUS READINGS ON THE ALT AND AIRSPD. REQUESTED DEP CTL TO PERMIT A RETURN TO THE FIELD. TWR THEN ISSUED A SPECIAL VFR CLRNC TO LAND AT OAKLAND PONTIAC ARPT. LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE SUDDEN TEMP DROP CAUSED THE MOISTURE IN THE STATIC SYS TO FREEZE, DISABLING THE SYS. GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT AS IT IS TIED IN WITH THE AIRSPD TO PREVENT RETRACTION AT LOW AIRSPDS.
