Narrative:
Flight was conducted from hvn to bwi. In the bwi vicinity, ATIS was copied. PNF briefed the PF on approach at bwi: 800 overcast, 2 mi fog. ILS runway 33R and 33L approachs in use. Due to expected normal operations at bwi for commuter aircraft, we inadvertently briefed for the ILS runway 33R approach. We were subsequently cleared for the ILS runway 33L approach. Neither the captain or myself realized we were not cleared for ILS runway 33R. After passing the FAF for ILS runway 33R. The controller questioned us as to if we were on the ILS runway 33R. He then cleared us for the ILS runway 33R approach. Flight continued without incident. After arriving at the gate, the captain called approach by telephone and explained situation. TRACON supervisor stated that there was no conflicting traffic at that time, so no action was being taken. Corrective actions: repetition of approachs at a particular airport can cause complacency. Title: ACR FLC COMMENCED AN ILS APCH TO THE WRONG RWY. ATC INTERVENTION.
Narrative: FLT WAS CONDUCTED FROM HVN TO BWI. IN THE BWI VICINITY, ATIS WAS COPIED. PNF BRIEFED THE PF ON APCH AT BWI: 800 OVCST, 2 MI FOG. ILS RWY 33R AND 33L APCHS IN USE. DUE TO EXPECTED NORMAL OPS AT BWI FOR COMMUTER ACFT, WE INADVERTENTLY BRIEFED FOR THE ILS RWY 33R APCH. WE WERE SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 33L APCH. NEITHER THE CAPT OR MYSELF REALIZED WE WERE NOT CLRED FOR ILS RWY 33R. AFTER PASSING THE FAF FOR ILS RWY 33R. THE CTLR QUESTIONED US AS TO IF WE WERE ON THE ILS RWY 33R. HE THEN CLRED US FOR THE ILS RWY 33R APCH. FLT CONTINUED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER ARRIVING AT THE GATE, THE CAPT CALLED APCH BY TELEPHONE AND EXPLAINED SITUATION. TRACON SUPVR STATED THAT THERE WAS NO CONFLICTING TFC AT THAT TIME, SO NO ACTION WAS BEING TAKEN. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: REPETITION OF APCHS AT A PARTICULAR ARPT CAN CAUSE COMPLACENCY.
