Narrative:
I took off out of hef (manassas, va), climbed to 1700 ft (500 ft above pattern) and called dulles approach. They refused my request to transit the TCA and suggested I use the VFR flyway. I was less than happy. I headed for the flyway, clipping the edge of the TCA. It was turbulent, I knew it was before I left, but being at 2000 ft over a populated area made it worse. Once I was out of the flyway I was able to climb to 3000 ft where things smoothed out. I entered the baltimore section of the TCA without incident.
