Narrative:
I am a part 121 first officer. I was scheduled to fly approximately 20 hours in the 7 day period mar/mon/92 through mar/sat/92 and sought to pick up some overtime. I notified crew scheduling I was available. I flew on 2 days off. On one, I did an aspen air return to den that the scheduling computer did not record. Consequently, it did not set off the 30 hour 'alarm' in the computer that activates as a 121 pilot approachs the 30 hour limit. I overflew the 30 hours by the duration of the aspen air return (90 mins). The reason I did not catch it was that I did not have a specific assignment that day -- I was only told to show up -- probably for an (a few) aspen trip(south) or something else. The WX was down so our assignment was not certain until about 30 min prior to flight time.

Title: PLT FLC WORK SCHEDULING IN EXCESS OF THAT ALLOWED BY FARS.
Narrative: I AM A PART 121 FO. I WAS SCHEDULED TO FLY APPROX 20 HRS IN THE 7 DAY PERIOD MAR/MON/92 THROUGH MAR/SAT/92 AND SOUGHT TO PICK UP SOME OVERTIME. I NOTIFIED CREW SCHEDULING I WAS AVAILABLE. I FLEW ON 2 DAYS OFF. ON ONE, I DID AN ASPEN AIR RETURN TO DEN THAT THE SCHEDULING COMPUTER DID NOT RECORD. CONSEQUENTLY, IT DID NOT SET OFF THE 30 HR 'ALARM' IN THE COMPUTER THAT ACTIVATES AS A 121 PLT APCHS THE 30 HR LIMIT. I OVERFLEW THE 30 HRS BY THE DURATION OF THE ASPEN AIR RETURN (90 MINS). THE REASON I DID NOT CATCH IT WAS THAT I DID NOT HAVE A SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT THAT DAY -- I WAS ONLY TOLD TO SHOW UP -- PROBABLY FOR AN (A FEW) ASPEN TRIP(S) OR SOMETHING ELSE. THE WX WAS DOWN SO OUR ASSIGNMENT WAS NOT CERTAIN UNTIL ABOUT 30 MIN PRIOR TO FLT TIME.
