Narrative:

At 11000 ft level flight, 250 KTS, we were flying dfw STAR 'blue ridge 3 arrival.' less than 5 mi from hamak intersection we were starting our speed reduction to 210 KTS and preparing for our 170 heading at hamak per the STAR. However, at this point, the TCASII commanded us to 'climb' (at a rate of 1000-1500 FPM). Hence, we immediately started a climb straight ahead. At 11500 ft the TCASII said 'monitor vertical speed.' we stopped our climb and advised dfw approach control. At this point we had missed our speed reduction and our 170 heading per the STAR. Approach gave us a new heading south, a new descent altitude and a new slower speed. Upon landing I called TRACON and advised of the whole situation. They informed us that we caused no problems or conflict, and the traffic was level at 1000 ft.

Title: CAPT OF MLG ACR ACFT CLBED ABOVE STAR RTE ALT AND SPD RESTRICTIONS RESPONDING TO TCASII RA.

Narrative: AT 11000 FT LEVEL FLT, 250 KTS, WE WERE FLYING DFW STAR 'BLUE RIDGE 3 ARR.' LESS THAN 5 MI FROM HAMAK INTXN WE WERE STARTING OUR SPD REDUCTION TO 210 KTS AND PREPARING FOR OUR 170 HDG AT HAMAK PER THE STAR. HOWEVER, AT THIS POINT, THE TCASII COMMANDED US TO 'CLB' (AT A RATE OF 1000-1500 FPM). HENCE, WE IMMEDIATELY STARTED A CLB STRAIGHT AHEAD. AT 11500 FT THE TCASII SAID 'MONITOR VERT SPD.' WE STOPPED OUR CLB AND ADVISED DFW APCH CTL. AT THIS POINT WE HAD MISSED OUR SPD REDUCTION AND OUR 170 HDG PER THE STAR. APCH GAVE US A NEW HDG S, A NEW DSCNT ALT AND A NEW SLOWER SPD. UPON LNDG I CALLED TRACON AND ADVISED OF THE WHOLE SITUATION. THEY INFORMED US THAT WE CAUSED NO PROBLEMS OR CONFLICT, AND THE TFC WAS LEVEL AT 1000 FT.
