Narrative:
At gate in pit found the following small items on captain's oxygen mask (slide test lever) moved a little stiff. However it and all other functions worked normally. On engine fire test we got 2 red master caution lights with dimmer switch placed in dim. However with switch in bright position we only got light on left engine. Problem was in dimmer switch -- all other functions, lights, etc, were normal. 1 checklist was missing. However I had one in my bag and copilot had extra one in aircraft handbook. The point here is that FAA is saying I willfully left pit, with known problems. I had these items in logbook. Then the oil loss in left engine and unscheduled landing at vegas occurred. It was fixed and signed off by other air carrier mechanic, however the other items were still there for our mechanics at sfo. Note: we had the required checklists on board. Had we had to use MEL list, it is legal to be dispatched with 1 red light out on master caution. Oxygen mask worked in all functions. Lever just needed a little lube.
