Narrative:

Flight was dispatched from miami, fl to managua, nicaragua with 1 ADF inoperative. The first officer contacted dispatch and was told this was legal because our alternate was cancun, mexico rather than the usual alternate of pedro san sula, honduras. Upon consulting the international supplement the word (continued) follows the entry with no further information. It was assumed that this unseen information was what gave the dispatcher authorization to send us on our flight. Upon further discussion during the flight, the point was made that we couldn't be positive that we were in accordance with the MEL.
