Narrative:

Start valve open caution light came on in flight. First step of abnormal checklist was to close the thrust lever. When that was accomplished, the light extinguished. The captain said the safest course of action was to operate engine at idle, rather than shut it down, and land at cle, our point of origin for the flight. ATC was advised and an uneventful landing was made at cle in 1 engine out confign in case engine was shut down later in flight.
