Narrative:
I was issued a clearance to land on 33R, wind was 240 at 15. More of a crosswind than I have done recently. I should have asked for 22. The closer I got to the ground the rougher it got. To make matters worse, 33R sits about 30 ft lower than the 'big boys' ramp and in the lee of most of the buildings at baltimore. I on 33R and the next few seconds a blur. I remember one wheel touching and going in one direction then the other and going in a different direction, the first wheel touching again and going back the other direction. I then decided to get out of there. I throttled up raised the nose and climbed out. I always leave the flaps at 25 degrees not 40. It gets harder to climb out with 40 degrees, and is not recommended. I radioed identify going around,' controller responded 'was that intentional?' I responded 'negative!' he responded 'stay with me.' I landed the second time without incident. I was a bit shaken. I went to the bathroom and then inspected the gear. Everything turned out ok. I should have asked to land 22, but I fell into the trap of letting ATC call the shots. This compounded with the facts that I had flown complicated airspace only once before in the last 18 months and my crosswind skills need work, made this experience happen.
