Narrative:

I have encountered quite a few stars that have published altitude restrictions that are not assigned as published or not given at all. There are many crossing restrictions that are given routinely but not published. I believe that some altitude busts could be prevented if crews knew what to expect. Enclosed are some examples. Please not some of the comments I have written on them. I'll bet that if you would solicit other examples in the 'callback' you would get many more examples. Experience has taught me to always expect somto at 11000 (lga nanci 4 STAR). I have never not been assigned cardi at 15000 (san cardi 2 STAR). ZOA controllers have told me that they know of no one who assigns the skunk restriction (sfo bsr 1 STAR). Most controllers assign pillo at 10000. 1 controller assigned me 40W of mzb (1 mi west of pillo) at 10000. When I questioned him if he meant pillo, he said there had been a LOA between ZLA and san approach for 20 yrs requiring that restriction (san baret 3 STAR).

THERE ARE MANY XING RESTRICTIONS THAT ARE GIVEN ROUTINELY BUT NOT PUBLISHED. I BELIEVE THAT SOME ALT BUSTS COULD BE PREVENTED IF CREWS KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT. ENCLOSED ARE SOME EXAMPLES. PLEASE NOT SOME OF THE COMMENTS I HAVE WRITTEN ON THEM. I'LL BET THAT IF YOU WOULD SOLICIT OTHER EXAMPLES IN THE 'CALLBACK' YOU WOULD GET MANY MORE EXAMPLES.
