Narrative:
IFR departure from ashland or. Instructed to pick up clearance at oed VORTAC, some 20 mi north. Intercept V-23, climb to 8000. Started picking up much ice and intercepted and flew correct radial, only sbound instead of northbound! Center gave a clue ('1 mi north of airport' -- it should have been more) but I was doing my corrigan act. Center turned me around a few mins later. If there is a lesson, it is distraction -- ice and gauges caused a loss of focus on whether heading was north or sbound.

Narrative: IFR DEP FROM ASHLAND OR. INSTRUCTED TO PICK UP CLRNC AT OED VORTAC, SOME 20 MI N. INTERCEPT V-23, CLB TO 8000.
