Narrative:
Tower cleared me to taxi to runway 13R and for immediate takeoff. I taxied to convergence of runways 13 and 17. Runway marker sign idented both runways 13 and 17. I apparently did not turn left sufficiently, and took off from runway 17 instead of 13. A helicopter was maneuvering off of the end of runway 17. I never considered the helicopter to be in any danger, but it could have been a close call. Main cause was my failure to properly perceive directions of runway marker light at night, and to properly identify runway and airplane heading before beginning takeoff roll.
