Narrative:

Climbing out of 3000 to 4000, ATC instructed us to turn to heading 270 degree. Was on heading 360 degree. Assumed it was left turn and turned to 270 degree. ATC informed us they said right turn but neither crew member heard it. Contributing factor. We occasionally fly with captain's window open to cool cockpit. Aircraft has very poor air conditioning and is non- pressurized. This produces a lot of noise and makes hearing ATC sometimes difficult. No conflict resulted.
