Narrative:
Departing the frt courtyard clearance was to 'taxi to runway 36R, hold short of runway 27 at charlie.' we turned left at 'south' with the intention of taxiing to join 'C' at 'south' just north of runway 27. The taxi chart appears to show them meeting there but as we passed 'V' I saw the runway hold line on 'south' and noted that it was short of the intersection with 'C'. We stopped on 'south' and were discussing whether ground had intended us to go via 'V' to 'C'. While we were stopped there, ground apparently saw us stopped and told us to just hold our position there. About 2 mins later he told us to proceed ahead and cross runway 27. Addition of runway hold lines on the taxi chart (as at bos) would have made it easier to tell that 'south' didn't meet 'C' before runway 27.

Title: AN ACR FREIGHTER CREW TAXIED TO A POINT ON MEM ARPT IN A FASHION TO BE JUST SLIGHTLY OFF OF THE RTE EXPECTED BY GND CTL.
Narrative: DEPARTING THE FRT COURTYARD CLRNC WAS TO 'TAXI TO RWY 36R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27 AT CHARLIE.' WE TURNED L AT 'S' WITH THE INTENTION OF TAXIING TO JOIN 'C' AT 'S' JUST N OF RWY 27. THE TAXI CHART APPEARS TO SHOW THEM MEETING THERE BUT AS WE PASSED 'V' I SAW THE RWY HOLD LINE ON 'S' AND NOTED THAT IT WAS SHORT OF THE INTXN WITH 'C'. WE STOPPED ON 'S' AND WERE DISCUSSING WHETHER GND HAD INTENDED US TO GO VIA 'V' TO 'C'. WHILE WE WERE STOPPED THERE, GND APPARENTLY SAW US STOPPED AND TOLD US TO JUST HOLD OUR POS THERE. ABOUT 2 MINS LATER HE TOLD US TO PROCEED AHEAD AND CROSS RWY 27. ADDITION OF RWY HOLD LINES ON THE TAXI CHART (AS AT BOS) WOULD HAVE MADE IT EASIER TO TELL THAT 'S' DIDN'T MEET 'C' BEFORE RWY 27.
