Narrative:

I was taxiing out from FBO's flight line in an small transport. As I turned south on the taxiway toward the takeoff end of the runway, it was apparent that I was going to be unable to pass by an small transport which was parked partly into the taxiway. To avoid striking the small transport, I taxied into a restr area for the use of ground vehicles, fuel trucks, maintenance vehicles, etc. I felt practically nothing, but subsequently, the line crew called the tower, suggesting that I had hit a sign and I was advised by the tower. I taxied back in. Examination of the aircraft showed no structural damage at all, no dents in the propeller, however, there was a minimal scratch in the paint at the tip end of the left engine propeller blade. (The engine/aircraft performed fine.) the lack of noise when I allegedly impacted the sign suggests that perhaps the sign was already down and it simply blew the sign into the ground vehicle drive area. In any event, I was rather distressed that this incident occurred, and certainly was aggravated by the presence of the small transport parked partly in the traffic way. Airport police made note of the incident regarding the smts.

Title: A PVT SMT HIT A TAXIWAY SIGN ATTEMPTING TO AVOID AN ACR SMT THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY PARKED. ACFT DAMAGED.

Narrative: I WAS TAXIING OUT FROM FBO'S FLT LINE IN AN SMT. AS I TURNED S ON THE TAXIWAY TOWARD THE TKOF END OF THE RWY, IT WAS APPARENT THAT I WAS GOING TO BE UNABLE TO PASS BY AN SMT WHICH WAS PARKED PARTLY INTO THE TAXIWAY. TO AVOID STRIKING THE SMT, I TAXIED INTO A RESTR AREA FOR THE USE OF GND VEHICLES, FUEL TRUCKS, MAINT VEHICLES, ETC. I FELT PRACTICALLY NOTHING, BUT SUBSEQUENTLY, THE LINE CREW CALLED THE TWR, SUGGESTING THAT I HAD HIT A SIGN AND I WAS ADVISED BY THE TWR. I TAXIED BACK IN. EXAMINATION OF THE ACFT SHOWED NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AT ALL, NO DENTS IN THE PROP, HOWEVER, THERE WAS A MINIMAL SCRATCH IN THE PAINT AT THE TIP END OF THE L ENG PROP BLADE. (THE ENG/ACFT PERFORMED FINE.) THE LACK OF NOISE WHEN I ALLEGEDLY IMPACTED THE SIGN SUGGESTS THAT PERHAPS THE SIGN WAS ALREADY DOWN AND IT SIMPLY BLEW THE SIGN INTO THE GND VEHICLE DRIVE AREA. IN ANY EVENT, I WAS RATHER DISTRESSED THAT THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, AND CERTAINLY WAS AGGRAVATED BY THE PRESENCE OF THE SMT PARKED PARTLY IN THE TFC WAY. ARPT POLICE MADE NOTE OF THE INCIDENT REGARDING THE SMTS.
