Narrative:

Unknown to crew because of no abnormal indications, we had a recap tire shed on takeoff in bhm. At about top of climb, passenger informed flight attendant of a hole in the wing which we confirmed. After checking with our flight controller and bhm tower, they informed us bhm had foreign object damage on the runway. We declared an emergency and had the emergency equipment standing by in san. Normal landing made in san. Aircraft had flap damage, some hydraulic lines broken, and 30 fan blades needed to be replaced in right engine. Maybe better recapping standards are needed.
