Narrative:
There have been 6 reports of collision with geese while landing on runway 17 for the past week. Ours was the sixth. When I called the tower and asked why they were using 17 on a calm day, they informed me that runway 17 was the noise abatement runway for calm wind. When I stated that there were at least 2000 geese on the grass and in the 3 large ponds approaching runway 17, I was told to tell it to the airport manager. The approach end of runway 17 is over a busy mall parking lot. Runway 26 is over commercial property and route 7-84. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Reporter states he did call airport mgrs office. Secretary said manager wanted to meet with him. Notified manager when he would be at airplane, but no one showed up. Problem is local swamp areas have been drained and ponds and grass areas developed at the malls. Geese hit rear stabilizer of his solidly built aircraft but feels it could have caused aircraft to FLIP over. One of the aircraft hit was totally destroyed. Feels noise abatement policy is flawed. Reporter called local FSDO and was told it was not their domain and they could/would not assist. Analyst advised of hot line.

Title: FLOCK OF GEESE LAUNCHES WHEN SMA ON FINAL. HIT STABILIZER.
Narrative: THERE HAVE BEEN 6 RPTS OF COLLISION WITH GEESE WHILE LNDG ON RWY 17 FOR THE PAST WK. OURS WAS THE SIXTH. WHEN I CALLED THE TWR AND ASKED WHY THEY WERE USING 17 ON A CALM DAY, THEY INFORMED ME THAT RWY 17 WAS THE NOISE ABATEMENT RWY FOR CALM WIND. WHEN I STATED THAT THERE WERE AT LEAST 2000 GEESE ON THE GRASS AND IN THE 3 LARGE PONDS APCHING RWY 17, I WAS TOLD TO TELL IT TO THE ARPT MGR. THE APCH END OF RWY 17 IS OVER A BUSY MALL PARKING LOT. RWY 26 IS OVER COMMERCIAL PROPERTY AND RTE 7-84. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO. RPTR STATES HE DID CALL ARPT MGRS OFFICE. SECRETARY SAID MGR WANTED TO MEET WITH HIM. NOTIFIED MGR WHEN HE WOULD BE AT AIRPLANE, BUT NO ONE SHOWED UP. PROBLEM IS LCL SWAMP AREAS HAVE BEEN DRAINED AND PONDS AND GRASS AREAS DEVELOPED AT THE MALLS. GEESE HIT REAR STABILIZER OF HIS SOLIDLY BUILT ACFT BUT FEELS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ACFT TO FLIP OVER. ONE OF THE ACFT HIT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. FEELS NOISE ABATEMENT POLICY IS FLAWED. RPTR CALLED LCL FSDO AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT THEIR DOMAIN AND THEY COULD/WOULD NOT ASSIST. ANALYST ADVISED OF HOT LINE.
