Narrative:
On downwind to 35L at efd, the left engine failed. We secured the engine as per the engine failure checklist. We declared an emergency with tower and continued our approach to efd. We landed the aircraft safely. We let the aircraft rollout and turned onto bravo taxiway. The emergency crew was on the scene and saw smoke coming from the left main gear. They requested that we stop the aircraft on bravo. We ordered a precautionary evacuate/evacuation through the emergency service door exit on the right rear side of the aircraft. I completed my duties in the cockpit and went back to assist with the evacuate/evacuation. The main cabin door was open but not being used. I looked out and saw no smoke. I also noted there was no fuel, oil, or any other liquids or debris in the area. Also, the cabin door was upwind of the engine and brakes in question. Based on all this information and the fact that most of the passenger were elderly (there was also an infant), I determined it was safer for my passenger to evacuate/evacuation through the main cabin door. This was done. There were no injuries. The brakes were allowed to cool. The aircraft was taxied to gate.

Title: AN LTT CREW HAD AN ENG FAIL IN THE TFC PATTERN. AN EMER WAS DECLARED. THE PAX WERE EVACED SUCCESSFULLY.
Narrative: ON DOWNWIND TO 35L AT EFD, THE L ENG FAILED. WE SECURED THE ENG AS PER THE ENG FAILURE CHKLIST. WE DECLARED AN EMER WITH TWR AND CONTINUED OUR APCH TO EFD. WE LANDED THE ACFT SAFELY. WE LET THE ACFT ROLLOUT AND TURNED ONTO BRAVO TAXIWAY. THE EMER CREW WAS ON THE SCENE AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE L MAIN GEAR. THEY REQUESTED THAT WE STOP THE ACFT ON BRAVO. WE ORDERED A PRECAUTIONARY EVAC THROUGH THE EMER SVC DOOR EXIT ON THE R REAR SIDE OF THE ACFT. I COMPLETED MY DUTIES IN THE COCKPIT AND WENT BACK TO ASSIST WITH THE EVAC. THE MAIN CABIN DOOR WAS OPEN BUT NOT BEING USED. I LOOKED OUT AND SAW NO SMOKE. I ALSO NOTED THERE WAS NO FUEL, OIL, OR ANY OTHER LIQUIDS OR DEBRIS IN THE AREA. ALSO, THE CABIN DOOR WAS UPWIND OF THE ENG AND BRAKES IN QUESTION. BASED ON ALL THIS INFO AND THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE PAX WERE ELDERLY (THERE WAS ALSO AN INFANT), I DETERMINED IT WAS SAFER FOR MY PAX TO EVAC THROUGH THE MAIN CABIN DOOR. THIS WAS DONE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE BRAKES WERE ALLOWED TO COOL. THE ACFT WAS TAXIED TO GATE.
