Narrative:
Cruising at FL290 given clearance to climb to FL330. With engines at climb power passing through FL300 there was a loud bang then vibrations and left engine instruments fluctuations. We shut down the left engine using the engine failure checklist. Declared an emergency with center and diverted to charleston, sc. In descent and approach to kchs we determined that we were losing fuel from the left main tank. We requested the fire department to meet us on landing. After landing tower said they saw that we were still losing fuel. We stopped on the taxiway and the fire department confirmed the fuel was still dumping. At this time we finally pulled the fire t-handle and shutdown the right engine and APU. We were towed into the gate. I think the engine failure checklist should mention the possibility of using the fire t-handle somewhere in the checklist. We were very busy doing checklist, communicating with ATC and the company and just flying. If the t-handle would have been mentioned on the engine failure checklist, we probably would not have lost the extra fuel and caused as much of a problem with the airport and fire department.

Title: ACR MLG HAS INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN AFTER EXPERIENCING COMPRESSOR STALL AND ENG VIBRATION. EMER DECLARED AND DIVERSION TO ALTERNATE ARPT FOR EMER LNDG. PIC COMPLAINS OF FUEL LEAK THAT WAS NOT KNOWN OR CTLED BY USING THE 'T' ENG FIRE HANDLE TO CLOSE THE FUEL VALVE.
Narrative: CRUISING AT FL290 GIVEN CLRNC TO CLB TO FL330. WITH ENGS AT CLB PWR PASSING THROUGH FL300 THERE WAS A LOUD BANG THEN VIBRATIONS AND L ENG INSTS FLUCTUATIONS. WE SHUT DOWN THE L ENG USING THE ENG FAILURE CHKLIST. DECLARED AN EMER WITH CTR AND DIVERTED TO CHARLESTON, SC. IN DSCNT AND APCH TO KCHS WE DETERMINED THAT WE WERE LOSING FUEL FROM THE L MAIN TANK. WE REQUESTED THE FIRE DEPT TO MEET US ON LNDG. AFTER LNDG TWR SAID THEY SAW THAT WE WERE STILL LOSING FUEL. WE STOPPED ON THE TAXIWAY AND THE FIRE DEPT CONFIRMED THE FUEL WAS STILL DUMPING. AT THIS TIME WE FINALLY PULLED THE FIRE T-HANDLE AND SHUTDOWN THE R ENG AND APU. WE WERE TOWED INTO THE GATE. I THINK THE ENG FAILURE CHKLIST SHOULD MENTION THE POSSIBILITY OF USING THE FIRE T-HANDLE SOMEWHERE IN THE CHKLIST. WE WERE VERY BUSY DOING CHKLIST, COMMUNICATING WITH ATC AND THE COMPANY AND JUST FLYING. IF THE T-HANDLE WOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED ON THE ENG FAILURE CHKLIST, WE PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE LOST THE EXTRA FUEL AND CAUSED AS MUCH OF A PROBLEM WITH THE ARPT AND FIRE DEPT.
