Narrative:
Upon departure, lga departure control altered routing to direct col, direct white vice radar vector white. First officer entered col identifier into FMS navigation system and began following course information. Col in data bank of FMS was later verified 1900 mi from col. Departure controller questioned 260 degree heading for colts neck. First officer selected #2 VOR navigation and noted VOR needle erratic and DME 000. Captain confirmed proper VOR tuning and indications and requested direct white. Controller again reiterated clearance direct col direct white. Captain tuned #1 VOR to col. First officer utilizing #1 VOR, flew cse 125 to col. Investigation revealed FMS data bank for col incorrect and #2 VOR/DME inoperative without any indications. Identify okay all frequencys FMS data bank coordinates for col discovered to be 19 degrees 16.3 min north 103 degrees 34.6 mins west vice 40 degrees 18.7 mins north 74 degrees 09.6 mins west. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: this report seems to be a match of a previous problem with colts neck/colima having the same identifier, col the reporter in this incident states that the anomaly is still in the data base. He and others have tried to get company management to make a change, but to no avail so far. This reporter states that there are other holes in the data base, specifically including the nanci 4 arrival into lga and the darbs 1 arrival into tpa. He promises to continue to fight to improve the data base.
