Narrative:
En route from okc to mci aircraft cleared on jhawk arrival emp transition. ATC issued a clearance to cross otter intersection at 11000 ft, 250 KIAS. Crew misunderstood and planned to cross bonnr intersection at 11000 ft, 250 KIAS. 10 mi prior to otter, ATC questioned whether we would make restriction. Confusion between 2 fixes was then eliminated and aircraft vectored off arrival for descent. Recommend one of the fix names be changed. Bonnr and otter sound too much alike.

Narrative: ENRTE FROM OKC TO MCI ACFT CLRED ON JHAWK ARR EMP TRANSITION. ATC ISSUED A CLRNC TO CROSS OTTER INTXN AT 11000 FT, 250 KIAS. CREW MISUNDERSTOOD AND PLANNED TO CROSS BONNR INTXN AT 11000 FT, 250 KIAS. 10 MI PRIOR TO OTTER, ATC QUESTIONED WHETHER WE WOULD MAKE RESTRICTION.
