Narrative:

While we were on downwind for runway 17 at ckv, an small aircraft sel aircraft crossed right to left in front of us at approximately the same altitude. We made a turn to the right to avoid the aircraft. The airport was extremely congested with flight training, and the radio frequency was congested to the point where several airports, operating on the same frequency (122.8), were stepping on each other, making radio communication nearly impossible. After avoiding the other aircraft, we continued our approach and landed on runway 17. The other aircraft was no longer in sight.

Title: CAPT OF ATX SMT ACFT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID SMA TRAINING ACFT ON THE DOWNWIND LEG AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.

Narrative: WHILE WE WERE ON DOWNWIND FOR RWY 17 AT CKV, AN SMA SEL ACFT CROSSED R TO L IN FRONT OF US AT APPROX THE SAME ALT. WE MADE A TURN TO THE R TO AVOID THE ACFT. THE ARPT WAS EXTREMELY CONGESTED WITH FLT TRAINING, AND THE RADIO FREQ WAS CONGESTED TO THE POINT WHERE SEVERAL ARPTS, OPERATING ON THE SAME FREQ (122.8), WERE STEPPING ON EACH OTHER, MAKING RADIO COM NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. AFTER AVOIDING THE OTHER ACFT, WE CONTINUED OUR APCH AND LANDED ON RWY 17. THE OTHER ACFT WAS NO LONGER IN SIGHT.
