Narrative:
Inaccurate wind information being given by control tower for takeoff and landing aircraft. Tower was advised by several aircraft on approach and landing that INS winds compared to tower winds were completely different. Tower winds were completely inaccurate. The wind sock located near the takeoff end of runway 27 at cdg was observed to be indicating a wind of approximately 230 degree/20 gust 25. After observing the wind sock, PIREPS, it was decided we would not exceed our takeoff limitations and departed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR PLT CLAIMS THAT WIND DIRECTION AND VELOCITY ISSUED BY TWR WERE DIFFERENT THAN THAT EXPERIENCED AT END OF RWY.
Narrative: INACCURATE WIND INFO BEING GIVEN BY CTL TWR FOR TKOF AND LNDG ACFT. TWR WAS ADVISED BY SEVERAL ACFT ON APCH AND LNDG THAT INS WINDS COMPARED TO TWR WINDS WERE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. TWR WINDS WERE COMPLETELY INACCURATE. THE WIND SOCK LOCATED NEAR THE TKOF END OF RWY 27 AT CDG WAS OBSERVED TO BE INDICATING A WIND OF APPROX 230 DEG/20 GUST 25. AFTER OBSERVING THE WIND SOCK, PIREPS, IT WAS DECIDED WE WOULD NOT EXCEED OUR TKOF LIMITATIONS AND DEPARTED.
