Narrative:
Due to high tail winds and low ceiling visibility at destination, jfk, I briefed the approach at altitude alter receipt of ATIS. CAT ii 4R jfk was briefed to include localizer frequency. On vectors from approach control, I tuned the localizer frequency and it was idented and announced idented by the first officer. We were given an intercept heading and 'no lower than till established' altitude. As I tracked the signal and descended on GS, approach inquired if we were receiving the localizer. We xrefed our instruments. Determined that my frequency was off 1 digit and requested a heading to intercept the correct localizer as we were well outside the final approach fix. We intercepted and made a standard instrument approach and landing at jfk. At the ramp in trying to determine how I could have incorrect localizer information but apparently correct GS information, I found that lga runway 4 ILS frequency to be 110.5 -- my erroneous frequency. The GS's approximately one another. No known conflict. Resolved at safe distance and altitude. Moral? Check and doublechk.

Title: AN ACR MLG MADE AN APCH TO THE LGA ILS 4 WHEN IT WANTED JFK ILS 4R.
Narrative: DUE TO HIGH TAIL WINDS AND LOW CEILING VISIBILITY AT DEST, JFK, I BRIEFED THE APCH AT ALT ALTER RECEIPT OF ATIS. CAT II 4R JFK WAS BRIEFED TO INCLUDE LOC FREQ. ON VECTORS FROM APCH CTL, I TUNED THE LOC FREQ AND IT WAS IDENTED AND ANNOUNCED IDENTED BY THE FO. WE WERE GIVEN AN INTERCEPT HDG AND 'NO LOWER THAN TILL ESTABLISHED' ALT. AS I TRACKED THE SIGNAL AND DSNDED ON GS, APCH INQUIRED IF WE WERE RECEIVING THE LOC. WE XREFED OUR INSTS. DETERMINED THAT MY FREQ WAS OFF 1 DIGIT AND REQUESTED A HDG TO INTERCEPT THE CORRECT LOC AS WE WERE WELL OUTSIDE THE FINAL APCH FIX. WE INTERCEPTED AND MADE A STANDARD INST APCH AND LNDG AT JFK. AT THE RAMP IN TRYING TO DETERMINE HOW I COULD HAVE INCORRECT LOC INFO BUT APPARENTLY CORRECT GS INFO, I FOUND THAT LGA RWY 4 ILS FREQ TO BE 110.5 -- MY ERRONEOUS FREQ. THE GS'S APPROX ONE ANOTHER. NO KNOWN CONFLICT. RESOLVED AT SAFE DISTANCE AND ALT. MORAL? CHK AND DOUBLECHK.
