Narrative:
I was approaching denton municipal airport in a single engine (small aircraft aircraft). 2 mi east of the airport I announced my intention to enter the landing pattern at midfield for a left downwind for runway 17 on the CTAF. From previous traffic communications it appeared that I would be aircraft #3 in the pattern and upon entry to the traffic pattern, downwind at midfield, I was indeed the 3RD aircraft in the pattern. I made a position announcement while downwind on the CTAF stating position and intention to land, full stop on runway 17. I visually located the other 2 aircraft in the pattern, allowed for proper separation, and began preparation for landing. Turning base I again radioed position. As I turned final or just prior to turning final, a twin engine aircraft (I think an small transport aircraft), announced that it was going to position and hold on runway 17 for traffic. I announced my turn to final as the twin moved into the threshold markings on the runway. The #2 aircraft in the pattern was doing touch-and-goes and touched down just prior to the twin moving onto the runway. My attention had been on the #2 aircraft for spacing and on landing my aircraft. My full understanding based on the radio transmission from the twin was that he was holding for traffic and since I was turning final, I assumed that was for me. I remarked to my passenger that I would not position and hold on a runway with an aircraft on final. I made sure that my landing would not interfere with the twin by landing longer than normal and coming over the threshold higher than normal. I also thought the pilot in the twin must be in a hurry since he had pulled out to hold in front of me so I exited the runway as quickly as I could safely. Then the pilot of the twin initiated a series of radio communications with me on the CTAF about how stupid I was to have landed with him in position. I then realized that he had not intended to hold for me, only for the #2 aircraft. I feel in retrospect that the pilot in the twin made a mistake in not yielding right of way to me, a landing aircraft on final. Also, as a learning experience for me, I will not land on a runway that an aircraft has taken position on -- period, even if they announce that they are holding because if there is a communication breakdown as happened in this case, an accident could occur. I believe that I operated my aircraft safely in this incident but I assumed the pilot of the twin was aware that I was on final. Again, it is not wise to assume anything, and I will not make assumptions again.

Title: PLT OF SMA ACFT DEVIATED FROM THE 'RIGHT OF WAY' RULE WHEN IT CONTINUED TO LAND OVER AN ACFT ON THE RWY (FAR 91 PT 113(G)). FARS.
Narrative: I WAS APCHING DENTON MUNICIPAL ARPT IN A SINGLE ENG (SMA ACFT). 2 MI E OF THE ARPT I ANNOUNCED MY INTENTION TO ENTER THE LNDG PATTERN AT MIDFIELD FOR A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 17 ON THE CTAF. FROM PREVIOUS TFC COMS IT APPEARED THAT I WOULD BE ACFT #3 IN THE PATTERN AND UPON ENTRY TO THE TFC PATTERN, DOWNWIND AT MIDFIELD, I WAS INDEED THE 3RD ACFT IN THE PATTERN. I MADE A POS ANNOUNCEMENT WHILE DOWNWIND ON THE CTAF STATING POS AND INTENTION TO LAND, FULL STOP ON RWY 17. I VISUALLY LOCATED THE OTHER 2 ACFT IN THE PATTERN, ALLOWED FOR PROPER SEPARATION, AND BEGAN PREPARATION FOR LNDG. TURNING BASE I AGAIN RADIOED POS. AS I TURNED FINAL OR JUST PRIOR TO TURNING FINAL, A TWIN ENG ACFT (I THINK AN SMT ACFT), ANNOUNCED THAT IT WAS GOING TO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 17 FOR TFC. I ANNOUNCED MY TURN TO FINAL AS THE TWIN MOVED INTO THE THRESHOLD MARKINGS ON THE RWY. THE #2 ACFT IN THE PATTERN WAS DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES AND TOUCHED DOWN JUST PRIOR TO THE TWIN MOVING ONTO THE RWY. MY ATTN HAD BEEN ON THE #2 ACFT FOR SPACING AND ON LNDG MY ACFT. MY FULL UNDERSTANDING BASED ON THE RADIO XMISSION FROM THE TWIN WAS THAT HE WAS HOLDING FOR TFC AND SINCE I WAS TURNING FINAL, I ASSUMED THAT WAS FOR ME. I REMARKED TO MY PAX THAT I WOULD NOT POS AND HOLD ON A RWY WITH AN ACFT ON FINAL. I MADE SURE THAT MY LNDG WOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH THE TWIN BY LNDG LONGER THAN NORMAL AND COMING OVER THE THRESHOLD HIGHER THAN NORMAL. I ALSO THOUGHT THE PLT IN THE TWIN MUST BE IN A HURRY SINCE HE HAD PULLED OUT TO HOLD IN FRONT OF ME SO I EXITED THE RWY AS QUICKLY AS I COULD SAFELY. THEN THE PLT OF THE TWIN INITIATED A SERIES OF RADIO COMS WITH ME ON THE CTAF ABOUT HOW STUPID I WAS TO HAVE LANDED WITH HIM IN POS. I THEN REALIZED THAT HE HAD NOT INTENDED TO HOLD FOR ME, ONLY FOR THE #2 ACFT. I FEEL IN RETROSPECT THAT THE PLT IN THE TWIN MADE A MISTAKE IN NOT YIELDING RIGHT OF WAY TO ME, A LNDG ACFT ON FINAL. ALSO, AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ME, I WILL NOT LAND ON A RWY THAT AN ACFT HAS TAKEN POS ON -- PERIOD, EVEN IF THEY ANNOUNCE THAT THEY ARE HOLDING BECAUSE IF THERE IS A COM BREAKDOWN AS HAPPENED IN THIS CASE, AN ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. I BELIEVE THAT I OPERATED MY ACFT SAFELY IN THIS INCIDENT BUT I ASSUMED THE PLT OF THE TWIN WAS AWARE THAT I WAS ON FINAL. AGAIN, IT IS NOT WISE TO ASSUME ANYTHING, AND I WILL NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS AGAIN.
