Narrative:
Cleared to taxi out of gate inner B to B, hold point runway 27. Held at B hold and monitor tower. Tower cleared us B/south position runway 27. We had our taxi chart open and available and looking for south crossed 27. At the time aircraft were departing on 4L from east and 4R from B. Our clearance was position and hold runway 27 via B/south, traffic 3 mi final for 4L. Both the first officer and myself visually checked the approach and departure paths and saw no conflict. This report is to note confusing clearance and markings at this point on the boston airport. There was no conflict and we taxied into position via S1 to runway 27 when I now believe ground wanted us into position via B. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter spoke from memory and thinks he taxied via B across both the runway 27 and runway 22R stopways and then via S1 to runway 9. In his report and during callback, he referred to using runway 27. He seems to have been confused. He said tower made no big deal of it and said there was no problem.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LGT CAPT GOT CONFUSED WHILE TAXIING IN THE SE CORNER OF THE ARPT. MAY HAVE TAKEN THE WRONG TXWYS TO RWY 9.
Narrative: CLRED TO TAXI OUT OF GATE INNER B TO B, HOLD POINT RWY 27. HELD AT B HOLD AND MONITOR TWR. TWR CLRED US B/S POS RWY 27. WE HAD OUR TAXI CHART OPEN AND AVAILABLE AND LOOKING FOR S CROSSED 27. AT THE TIME ACFT WERE DEPARTING ON 4L FROM E AND 4R FROM B. OUR CLRNC WAS POS AND HOLD RWY 27 VIA B/S, TFC 3 MI FINAL FOR 4L. BOTH THE FO AND MYSELF VISUALLY CHKED THE APCH AND DEP PATHS AND SAW NO CONFLICT. THIS RPT IS TO NOTE CONFUSING CLRNC AND MARKINGS AT THIS POINT ON THE BOSTON ARPT. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT AND WE TAXIED INTO POS VIA S1 TO RWY 27 WHEN I NOW BELIEVE GND WANTED US INTO POS VIA B. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR SPOKE FROM MEMORY AND THINKS HE TAXIED VIA B ACROSS BOTH THE RWY 27 AND RWY 22R STOPWAYS AND THEN VIA S1 TO RWY 9. IN HIS RPT AND DURING CALLBACK, HE REFERRED TO USING RWY 27. HE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN CONFUSED. HE SAID TWR MADE NO BIG DEAL OF IT AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROB.
