Narrative:
Applicant was downwind for landing on runway 22L at chandler, az, airport (small aircraft sel). Aircraft (high polish -- all metal) came into view in descending right turn onto downwind, just short of midfield. Turned in front of us descending and slowly pulled away. Came into view from above right wing. Applicant had called (unicom frequency) entering downwind from crosswind, no call from small aircraft aircraft prior to, or after entering traffic. No evasion -- no time! Clear blue sky, focus problem on our part while on crosswind? We were looking! No 'north' number gotten. We continued traffic work. Taxied into hangar area. Lost him.
