Narrative:
Upon landing on runway 31 airplane veered off runway to the right and the propeller hit a runway light. The airplane returned to the runway and taxied to ramp. Upon examination there was no damage anywhere except a nick in 1 blade of the propeller. The nick was about 1/4 inch deep. The edges of the nick were lightly filed down and the flight continued to ocala, fl, where a mechanic was consulted and the propeller was dressed by the mechanic. Possible difficulty landing in crosswind, later, at the termination of the flight in opa locka, fl, the nose wheel shimmy damper failed. The shimmy damper, if broken, can cause plane to veer to right. There was a crosswind from the right (about 020 degrees) and if the shimmy damper was binding it would have kept me from using left pedal. The shimmy damper broke when I attempted to taxi to left after landing at opa locka, fl.

THE EDGES OF THE NICK WERE LIGHTLY FILED DOWN AND THE FLT CONTINUED TO OCALA, FL, WHERE A MECH WAS CONSULTED AND THE PROP WAS DRESSED BY THE MECH. POSSIBLE DIFFICULTY LNDG IN XWIND, LATER, AT THE TERMINATION OF THE FLT IN OPA LOCKA, FL, THE NOSE WHEEL SHIMMY DAMPER FAILED. THE SHIMMY DAMPER, IF BROKEN, CAN CAUSE PLANE TO VEER TO R. THERE WAS A XWIND FROM THE R (ABOUT 020 DEGS) AND IF THE SHIMMY DAMPER WAS BINDING IT WOULD HAVE KEPT ME FROM USING L PEDAL. THE SHIMMY DAMPER BROKE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TAXI TO L AFTER LNDG AT OPA LOCKA, FL.
