Narrative:
During climb from bed en route hanscom 6 departure to mht, red over voltage light came on with discharge on ammeter. I reviewed emergency procedure (reset avionics power, master switch to off, then on). For some reason, on first 2 recycles, red light again illuminated, on third cycle light remained off. Decision (pilot) to return to bed for evaluation. Bos departure/approach 124.4 informed. Very concerned and helpful during brief return flight, passed off information to bed tower who was also very helpful. Kudos to ATC and bed tower for concerns and professionalism which aided pilot (me) in evaluating situation/options. While my situation was not serious, their expressed attitude/concern and manner they approached situation and aided my own confidence to handle whatever problem developed.

Narrative: DURING CLB FROM BED ENRTE HANSCOM 6 DEP TO MHT, RED OVER VOLTAGE LIGHT CAME ON WITH DISCHARGE ON AMMETER. I REVIEWED EMER PROC (RESET AVIONICS PWR, MASTER SWITCH TO OFF, THEN ON). FOR SOME REASON, ON FIRST 2 RECYCLES, RED LIGHT AGAIN ILLUMINATED, ON THIRD CYCLE LIGHT REMAINED OFF. DECISION (PLT) TO RETURN TO BED FOR EVALUATION. BOS DEP/APCH 124.4 INFORMED. VERY CONCERNED AND HELPFUL DURING BRIEF RETURN FLT, PASSED OFF INFO TO BED TWR WHO WAS ALSO VERY HELPFUL. KUDOS TO ATC AND BED TWR FOR CONCERNS AND PROFESSIONALISM WHICH AIDED PLT (ME) IN EVALUATING SIT/OPTIONS.
