Narrative:
Prior to landing, the so got the gate assignment 'X'. On approach, we were closing on an large transport. Tower gave us the parallel runway (slc 34R). Landed/taxied across runway 34L, contacted ground, then ramp control who told us to come over spot 'Z' to the gate. I had my mind set on parking at gate 'X', not 'Y' because I have never parked the widebody transport at 'X' concourse. As we were passing X, the so said there is the gate. I slowed the aircraft (had overshot the gate) and made a left turn. We had shut down #3 engine for fuel conservation using power from #2. It took a long time to swing the aircraft back around to the centerline of the gate. In doing so, I blew over several baggage carts (empty) that were parked behind the gate. Not once did anyone on the ground, the wing walkers or the man on the stop/go light, give me a stop sign. The fault lies with me, I had my mind set on parking at gate Y, not X.

Title: PROPERTY DAMAGE, BAGGAGE CARTS, BY JET BLAST ENCOUNTER FROM WDB IN RAMP OP ACFT PARKING PROC.
Narrative: PRIOR TO LNDG, THE SO GOT THE GATE ASSIGNMENT 'X'. ON APCH, WE WERE CLOSING ON AN LGT. TWR GAVE US THE PARALLEL RWY (SLC 34R). LANDED/TAXIED ACROSS RWY 34L, CONTACTED GND, THEN RAMP CTL WHO TOLD US TO COME OVER SPOT 'Z' TO THE GATE. I HAD MY MIND SET ON PARKING AT GATE 'X', NOT 'Y' BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER PARKED THE WDB AT 'X' CONCOURSE. AS WE WERE PASSING X, THE SO SAID THERE IS THE GATE. I SLOWED THE ACFT (HAD OVERSHOT THE GATE) AND MADE A L TURN. WE HAD SHUT DOWN #3 ENG FOR FUEL CONSERVATION USING PWR FROM #2. IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO SWING THE ACFT BACK AROUND TO THE CTRLINE OF THE GATE. IN DOING SO, I BLEW OVER SEVERAL BAGGAGE CARTS (EMPTY) THAT WERE PARKED BEHIND THE GATE. NOT ONCE DID ANYONE ON THE GND, THE WING WALKERS OR THE MAN ON THE STOP/GO LIGHT, GIVE ME A STOP SIGN. THE FAULT LIES WITH ME, I HAD MY MIND SET ON PARKING AT GATE Y, NOT X.
