Narrative:

Taxied out for the first flight of the day. We are required to do a runup. Doing the automatic feather test we could not get the automatic feather system to arm, test, or feather. We then called ground control and returned to the gate and deplaned passenger. I called maintenance. They asked if I would ferry the aircraft to a maintenance base. I said no because this particular aircraft has had a history of automatic feather problems in the past.
