Narrative:
When at night sbound passed bakersfield, ca, landing at whp. I told bakersfield approach that I was going to climb out of 5500 to be sure that I was going to clear mountains. I climbed to 9000 ft. Talking to ZLA, I heard of IFR conditions in san fernando valley. I flew with bur approach over the area and then flew to fox at lancaster. I am not sure if my altitudes were proper even though I had radar service.
