Narrative:
Received abbreviated WX briefing at xa am den FSS. VFR flight recommended for sight-seeing flight local area. Preflted, got ATIS, taxi clearance to runway 33. Leaned engine, runway checked twice. Cleared onto runway, began rollout. Engine sputtered 20-30 KTS. Continued rollout. Engine sputtered second time, badly, at 60 KIAS. Pilot throttled to idle to abort takeoff. Airplane oscillated and while braking nose gear collapsed on runway. Plane skidded at slight left angle onto infield. Pilot continued to apply rudder and brake pressure to maintain directional control until plane came to halt. Pilot aided passenger in evacuate/evacuation of plane. (All switches were turned off immediately on collapse of nose gear.

Title: PLT OF SMA SEL ACFT ABORTED TKOF DUE TO A ROUGH RUNNING ENG RESULTING IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE NOSE GEAR AND THE ACFT SKIDDING OFF THE SIDE OF THE RWY.
Narrative: RECEIVED ABBREVIATED WX BRIEFING AT XA AM DEN FSS. VFR FLT RECOMMENDED FOR SIGHT-SEEING FLT LCL AREA. PREFLTED, GOT ATIS, TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 33. LEANED ENG, RWY CHKED TWICE. CLRED ONTO RWY, BEGAN ROLLOUT. ENG SPUTTERED 20-30 KTS. CONTINUED ROLLOUT. ENG SPUTTERED SECOND TIME, BADLY, AT 60 KIAS. PLT THROTTLED TO IDLE TO ABORT TKOF. AIRPLANE OSCILLATED AND WHILE BRAKING NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED ON RWY. PLANE SKIDDED AT SLIGHT L ANGLE ONTO INFIELD. PLT CONTINUED TO APPLY RUDDER AND BRAKE PRESSURE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CTL UNTIL PLANE CAME TO HALT. PLT AIDED PAX IN EVAC OF PLANE. (ALL SWITCHES WERE TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY ON COLLAPSE OF NOSE GEAR.
