Narrative:

We were cleared to intercept the 30R localizer at 4500 ft assigned. We were approximately 20 mi out at this time in the right turn when we received a TCASII RA. We followed the direction (descend) to approximately 4000 ft then climbed back to 4500 ft as we told ATC of the problem. We were in a cloud deck of broken between approximately 4000 ft and 6000 ft. I did not see the subject aircraft. What bothers me the most is that the resulting avoidance maneuver was not well executed. Although the altitude did not vary that much, we did not stay in the green band and in the confusion we passed through the localizer on a parallel runway system. The RA could hardly have happened at a worse place, turning, intercepting, WX, low altitude, changing confign, and speed. I was startled by the RA and feel simulator exposure to this system is a must. Hopefully, next time I'll feel better about the experience!

Title: DURING TURN-IN TO A PARALLEL ILS APCH, CAPT OF AN MLG ACR ACFT DRIFTED OVER TO THE OTHER RWY CTRLINE IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE 30R LOC AT 4500 FT ASSIGNED. WE WERE APPROX 20 MI OUT AT THIS TIME IN THE R TURN WHEN WE RECEIVED A TCASII RA. WE FOLLOWED THE DIRECTION (DSND) TO APPROX 4000 FT THEN CLBED BACK TO 4500 FT AS WE TOLD ATC OF THE PROB. WE WERE IN A CLOUD DECK OF BROKEN BTWN APPROX 4000 FT AND 6000 FT. I DID NOT SEE THE SUBJECT ACFT. WHAT BOTHERS ME THE MOST IS THAT THE RESULTING AVOIDANCE MANEUVER WAS NOT WELL EXECUTED. ALTHOUGH THE ALT DID NOT VARY THAT MUCH, WE DID NOT STAY IN THE GREEN BAND AND IN THE CONFUSION WE PASSED THROUGH THE LOC ON A PARALLEL RWY SYS. THE RA COULD HARDLY HAVE HAPPENED AT A WORSE PLACE, TURNING, INTERCEPTING, WX, LOW ALT, CHANGING CONFIGN, AND SPD. I WAS STARTLED BY THE RA AND FEEL SIMULATOR EXPOSURE TO THIS SYS IS A MUST. HOPEFULLY, NEXT TIME I'LL FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE!
