Narrative:
At approximately AM40L we requested takeoff clearance runway 9 with closed traffic. We were cleared into position and hold. A moment later we were cleared for takeoff. I heard the clearance as 'cleared for takeoff, make right traffic.' the student was flying and after a long pause he responded 'roger.' as we entered midfield right downwind runway 9, controller asked '(aircraft identify) say intentions.' my student replied '(aircraft identify) would like full stop.' the controller then said something like 'I told you to be on a right downwind runway 5, I told you twice sir.' we then made an immediate turn to the left to enter the right downwind runway 5. We landed without incident. The only reason I am writing this report is because I asked the tower chief to hear the tapes. He said the conversation happened as the controller stated. The only was he (the tower chief) would read me a transcript, was if I filed a complaint. I did so, and am now afraid of a complaint being filed against me.

Narrative: AT APPROX AM40L WE REQUESTED TKOF CLRNC RWY 9 WITH CLOSED TFC. WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD. A MOMENT LATER WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. I HEARD THE CLRNC AS 'CLRED FOR TKOF, MAKE R TFC.' THE STUDENT WAS FLYING AND AFTER A LONG PAUSE HE RESPONDED 'ROGER.' AS WE ENTERED MIDFIELD R DOWNWIND RWY 9, CTLR ASKED '(ACFT IDENT) SAY INTENTIONS.' MY STUDENT REPLIED '(ACFT IDENT) WOULD LIKE FULL STOP.' THE CTLR THEN SAID SOMETHING LIKE 'I TOLD YOU TO BE ON A R DOWNWIND RWY 5, I TOLD YOU TWICE SIR.' WE THEN MADE AN IMMEDIATE TURN TO THE L TO ENTER THE R DOWNWIND RWY 5. WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE ONLY REASON I AM WRITING THIS RPT IS BECAUSE I ASKED THE TWR CHIEF TO HEAR THE TAPES. HE SAID THE CONVERSATION HAPPENED AS THE CTLR STATED. THE ONLY WAS HE (THE TWR CHIEF) WOULD READ ME A TRANSCRIPT, WAS IF I FILED A COMPLAINT. I DID SO, AND AM NOW AFRAID OF A COMPLAINT BEING FILED AGAINST ME.
