Narrative:

After landing in ric and the aircraft unloaded, an unsecured, unmarked and sealed box was found aft of the rearmost container position. Upon closer inspection a strong gasoline odor was noticed. We opened the box to find an internal combustion engine driven water-methanol transfer pump. This is of course hazardous material (hazmat). Neither of the flight crew were properly or otherwise notified, not even for weight and balance purposes. The knowledge of the existence of this hazmat, hidden in a box and smuggled on the aircraft by the 'shipper,' was obviously not meant to be known by the flight crew. This shipper has no qualified employees to receive, accept, inspect or prepare hazmat for shipment, nor fill out a pilot notification form. The shipper, in general, is xyz corporation and specifically is their director of maintenance who evidently does not believe crash fire rescue equipment 49 regulations apply to him or xyz corporation. I notified the manager of operations control to notify the director of operations and chief pilot, who was out of town. An irregularity report was also filled out (primary communication to the director of operations and chief pilot). I later found that they had tried to ship this hazmat 1 day earlier, with another flight crew. This flight crew was verbally notified and refused to carry it. This is not the first discrepancy involving hazmat xyz has subject me to, but it is the most extreme.

Title: UNKNOWN TO FLC THEY CARRIED HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AS PART OF CARGO.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG IN RIC AND THE ACFT UNLOADED, AN UNSECURED, UNMARKED AND SEALED BOX WAS FOUND AFT OF THE REARMOST CONTAINER POS. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR WAS NOTICED. WE OPENED THE BOX TO FIND AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENG DRIVEN WATER-METHANOL TRANSFER PUMP. THIS IS OF COURSE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL (HAZMAT). NEITHER OF THE FLC WERE PROPERLY OR OTHERWISE NOTIFIED, NOT EVEN FOR WT AND BAL PURPOSES. THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE EXISTENCE OF THIS HAZMAT, HIDDEN IN A BOX AND SMUGGLED ON THE ACFT BY THE 'SHIPPER,' WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT MEANT TO BE KNOWN BY THE FLC. THIS SHIPPER HAS NO QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE, ACCEPT, INSPECT OR PREPARE HAZMAT FOR SHIPMENT, NOR FILL OUT A PLT NOTIFICATION FORM. THE SHIPPER, IN GENERAL, IS XYZ CORPORATION AND SPECIFICALLY IS THEIR DIRECTOR OF MAINT WHO EVIDENTLY DOES NOT BELIEVE CFR 49 REGS APPLY TO HIM OR XYZ CORPORATION. I NOTIFIED THE MGR OF OPS CTL TO NOTIFY THE DIRECTOR OF OPS AND CHIEF PLT, WHO WAS OUT OF TOWN. AN IRREGULARITY RPT WAS ALSO FILLED OUT (PRIMARY COM TO THE DIRECTOR OF OPS AND CHIEF PLT). I LATER FOUND THAT THEY HAD TRIED TO SHIP THIS HAZMAT 1 DAY EARLIER, WITH ANOTHER FLC. THIS FLC WAS VERBALLY NOTIFIED AND REFUSED TO CARRY IT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST DISCREPANCY INVOLVING HAZMAT XYZ HAS SUBJECT ME TO, BUT IT IS THE MOST EXTREME.
