Narrative:
We were air carrier flight from fll to mco. Ground control cleared us to taxi from terminal 1 to runway 9L without restrictions. We taxied via alpha taxiway. Immediately after crossing runway 13/31, I saw an small aircraft 'Y' on a collision course on taxiway D. I immediately applied the brakes at which time the pilot of the small aircraft must have seen us and applied his brakes. Neither he nor I was informed of the other. If not for the vigilance of either PIC this non-event could have been an accident. A possible cause of this near incident was a ground controller change. More vigilance is needed by ground controllers in fll. This could have been the second ground accident at fll involving our airline alone.

Title: GND INCIDENT WITH 2 ACFT AS TAXIING TFC GOING TO THE SAME RWY ASSIGNMENT.
Narrative: WE WERE ACR FLT FROM FLL TO MCO. GND CTL CLRED US TO TAXI FROM TERMINAL 1 TO RWY 9L WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS. WE TAXIED VIA ALPHA TXWY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER XING RWY 13/31, I SAW AN SMA 'Y' ON A COLLISION COURSE ON TXWY D. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES AT WHICH TIME THE PLT OF THE SMA MUST HAVE SEEN US AND APPLIED HIS BRAKES. NEITHER HE NOR I WAS INFORMED OF THE OTHER. IF NOT FOR THE VIGILANCE OF EITHER PIC THIS NON-EVENT COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THIS NEAR INCIDENT WAS A GND CTLR CHANGE. MORE VIGILANCE IS NEEDED BY GND CTLRS IN FLL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE SECOND GND ACCIDENT AT FLL INVOLVING OUR AIRLINE ALONE.
