Narrative:
The CFI was demonstrating a confined area landing to a ses student pilot. A high reconnaissance was performed of the area to look for obstacles. A landing approach was made to put the aircraft into a small lagoon formed by a dredged lowland. After the landing it was realized that several people and children were walking on the lowland within about 300 ft of the approach path, although the path was not over their location but rather horizontally to the side. The landing should not have been performed this close to people on the shore and in the future should only be done when the area is clear of all people.
