Narrative:
Upon reaching sandy point VOR I thought I was over hto VOR and began erroneously tracking what I thought was victor 139. Controller questioned our heading and we corrected. I attribute the error to complacency, lack of attention to detail and the fact that I was flying with a new first officer who was unfamiliar with the route and did not know the route from memory and trusted my familiarity with the routing.
