Narrative:
Called tower for clearance to land 5 mi southeast of airport. Started my descent into the airport. I noticed my engine was starting to run a little rough. Noted my rpms were around 2300 RPM. I pulled out the carburetor heat and the engine remained the same. Tower called for my position, and I told them about 2 mi to the south, and that my engine was having a hard time maintaining power. The engine stopped about that time. I was around 1500 MSA at that time. I didn't have time to talk to tower, I was looking for a place to set down. Found a field that appeared to be flat and set the aircraft down with no problem. There was no aircraft damage or injury to myself or passenger. Outside air temperature 65 degrees F. Suspected carburetor icing due to the temperature and relative humidity. After landing, about 15 mins later, started engine with no apparent problem.
