Narrative:

Today, upon effecting a landing in lax (XA10Z) with clearance on runway 25L, at a ht of approximately 100 ft, we experienced severe wake turbulence from an large transport. We suffered very sharp longitudinal thrusts which lasted for about 3 seconds and fortunately were able to regain full control of the aircraft and land without incident. After landing, the control tower was fully informed about the situation (they are now claiming to have never been made aware of the problem). Later, I insisted on speaking to an lax tower supervisor by phone, and was connected to a guy named X. I let him know that I was extremely upset about being given instructions to land in the wake of such a heavy aircraft. I told him that this procedure was incorrect and made a formal statement as follows: upon arriving at approach control (124.9), we were instructed by an air traffic controller to follow in behind some traffic and indicated it was the traffic we could see ahead of us. This aircraft was supposedly 10 mi in front of us, thus, we were warned to be prepared for wake turbulence. However, the air traffic controller told us to maintain at 190 KTS up to the OM. Suddenly, on our TCASII traffic appeared out of nowhere and was right in front of us and not more than 1000 ft below our aircraft. Naturally, we assumed that this was the aforementioned traffic. At a distance of 3 mi from our assigned runway (25L), we started to see this airplane leaving the runway. It never showed up on the TCASII. There were aircraft taking off on the runway that's parallel to 25L and on 24L, I made a decision to go ahead and land, although I flew in a bit above glidepath to try as much as possible to minimize the wake turbulence. Unfortunately, it was inevitable and we suffered the consequences of someone's careless disregard for safety. Fortunately, I can assure you that our flight never came into any really dangerous situation, but I also believe that his lapse of good judgement (or attention) on the part of the air traffic controllers involved should be scrutinized and reprimanded for their carelessness. Wake turbulence can represent the possible destruction of an aircraft. Basically, that's the bottom line and that is why I have been so adamant with this supervisor about getting to the bottom of this whole thing.

Title: A FOREIGN ACR LGT PLT RPTS WAKE TURB FOLLOWING ANOTHER ACR LGT AT LAX.

Narrative: TODAY, UPON EFFECTING A LNDG IN LAX (XA10Z) WITH CLRNC ON RWY 25L, AT A HT OF APPROX 100 FT, WE EXPERIENCED SEVERE WAKE TURB FROM AN LGT. WE SUFFERED VERY SHARP LONGITUDINAL THRUSTS WHICH LASTED FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS AND FORTUNATELY WERE ABLE TO REGAIN FULL CTL OF THE ACFT AND LAND WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER LNDG, THE CTL TWR WAS FULLY INFORMED ABOUT THE SIT (THEY ARE NOW CLAIMING TO HAVE NEVER BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE PROB). LATER, I INSISTED ON SPEAKING TO AN LAX TWR SUPVR BY PHONE, AND WAS CONNECTED TO A GUY NAMED X. I LET HIM KNOW THAT I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT BEING GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO LAND IN THE WAKE OF SUCH A HVY ACFT. I TOLD HIM THAT THIS PROC WAS INCORRECT AND MADE A FORMAL STATEMENT AS FOLLOWS: UPON ARRIVING AT APCH CTL (124.9), WE WERE INSTRUCTED BY AN AIR TFC CTLR TO FOLLOW IN BEHIND SOME TFC AND INDICATED IT WAS THE TFC WE COULD SEE AHEAD OF US. THIS ACFT WAS SUPPOSEDLY 10 MI IN FRONT OF US, THUS, WE WERE WARNED TO BE PREPARED FOR WAKE TURB. HOWEVER, THE AIR TFC CTLR TOLD US TO MAINTAIN AT 190 KTS UP TO THE OM. SUDDENLY, ON OUR TCASII TFC APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US AND NOT MORE THAN 1000 FT BELOW OUR ACFT. NATURALLY, WE ASSUMED THAT THIS WAS THE AFOREMENTIONED TFC. AT A DISTANCE OF 3 MI FROM OUR ASSIGNED RWY (25L), WE STARTED TO SEE THIS AIRPLANE LEAVING THE RWY. IT NEVER SHOWED UP ON THE TCASII. THERE WERE ACFT TAKING OFF ON THE RWY THAT'S PARALLEL TO 25L AND ON 24L, I MADE A DECISION TO GO AHEAD AND LAND, ALTHOUGH I FLEW IN A BIT ABOVE GLIDEPATH TO TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE THE WAKE TURB. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS INEVITABLE AND WE SUFFERED THE CONSEQUENCES OF SOMEONE'S CARELESS DISREGARD FOR SAFETY. FORTUNATELY, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT OUR FLT NEVER CAME INTO ANY REALLY DANGEROUS SIT, BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT HIS LAPSE OF GOOD JUDGEMENT (OR ATTN) ON THE PART OF THE AIR TFC CTLRS INVOLVED SHOULD BE SCRUTINIZED AND REPRIMANDED FOR THEIR CARELESSNESS. WAKE TURB CAN REPRESENT THE POSSIBLE DESTRUCTION OF AN ACFT. BASICALLY, THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE AND THAT IS WHY I HAVE BEEN SO ADAMANT WITH THIS SUPVR ABOUT GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS WHOLE THING.
