Narrative:
We left holding at lgc VOR at 16000 ft with ZTL. On leaving holding we were switched to a different frequency (120.45). Another aircraft on this frequency had an intermittent stuck microphone. ZTL gave us airspeed 250 KTS and to expect honie (atl 228/40) at 12000 ft. At 48 DME from atl we had heard nothing from ZTL. We were looking for another frequency when the microphone unstuck. ZTL told us to descend immediately to 12000 ft then slow to 250 KTS. As we descended through 14000 ft at greater than 4000 FPM descent rate and increasing speed, she said approach control could not take us and maintain 13000 ft, slow to 250 KTS, and turn to a heading of 180 degrees. We pulled out of the steep dive at 12700 ft and climbed back to 13000 ft. All this occurred within a time span of less than a min.

Title: ACR IN A HIGH RATE OF DSCNT IS ISSUED ANOTHER ALT ASSIGNMENT AND GOES THROUGH THE NEW ALT.
Narrative: WE LEFT HOLDING AT LGC VOR AT 16000 FT WITH ZTL. ON LEAVING HOLDING WE WERE SWITCHED TO A DIFFERENT FREQ (120.45). ANOTHER ACFT ON THIS FREQ HAD AN INTERMITTENT STUCK MIKE. ZTL GAVE US AIRSPD 250 KTS AND TO EXPECT HONIE (ATL 228/40) AT 12000 FT. AT 48 DME FROM ATL WE HAD HEARD NOTHING FROM ZTL. WE WERE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FREQ WHEN THE MIKE UNSTUCK. ZTL TOLD US TO DSND IMMEDIATELY TO 12000 FT THEN SLOW TO 250 KTS. AS WE DSNDED THROUGH 14000 FT AT GREATER THAN 4000 FPM DSCNT RATE AND INCREASING SPD, SHE SAID APCH CTL COULD NOT TAKE US AND MAINTAIN 13000 FT, SLOW TO 250 KTS, AND TURN TO A HDG OF 180 DEGS. WE PULLED OUT OF THE STEEP DIVE AT 12700 FT AND CLBED BACK TO 13000 FT. ALL THIS OCCURRED WITHIN A TIME SPAN OF LESS THAN A MIN.
