Narrative:
During the landing rollout of an operational ferry flight (no flight attendants on board), a food service cart came unsecured and rolled forward from its stowed position as thrust reversers and brakes were applied. Although no damage occurred, the potential existed. Our operating procedures allow us to perform operational ferry flts with the food service carts in their stowed position. Although I had checked the galley prior to flight, I have never received any formal training in galley operations/securing food service carts. Additionally, this subject is not addressed in our operating manual. I believe these factors contributed to this incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR FERRY FLT HAS FOOD SVC CART ROLL DOWN THE AISLE ON LNDG ROLL.
Narrative: DURING THE LNDG ROLLOUT OF AN OPERATIONAL FERRY FLT (NO FLT ATTENDANTS ON BOARD), A FOOD SVC CART CAME UNSECURED AND ROLLED FORWARD FROM ITS STOWED POS AS THRUST REVERSERS AND BRAKES WERE APPLIED. ALTHOUGH NO DAMAGE OCCURRED, THE POTENTIAL EXISTED. OUR OPERATING PROCS ALLOW US TO PERFORM OPERATIONAL FERRY FLTS WITH THE FOOD SVC CARTS IN THEIR STOWED POS. ALTHOUGH I HAD CHKED THE GALLEY PRIOR TO FLT, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY FORMAL TRAINING IN GALLEY OPS/SECURING FOOD SVC CARTS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS SUBJECT IS NOT ADDRESSED IN OUR OPERATING MANUAL. I BELIEVE THESE FACTORS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS INCIDENT.
