Narrative:
We were boarding passenger at st. Croix for the flight to st. Thomas and while doing this we had a local (virgin islands) police officer in uniform on board with a gun and needless to say this man did not bother to inform anyone at our ticket counter or the boarding agent that he was carrying a hand gun. 'Unfortunately' in my opinion we have to let these 'law men' in with their guns. (I have yet to figure out why they can't check their guns the same way as the other flying public.) my problem this time is, why did he not fill out the proper paperwork 'which allows' him to travel with his gun in the cabin and why didn't our gate agents require him to fill out the proper paperwork. Upon arriving at st. Thomas, I did see him deplaning and asked him, 'officer, are you carrying a gun with you?' his answer was yes, he has a gun. To this I countered, 'where is my copy of your gun permit.' his (less truthful) answer was that he left that paper to st. Croix. I did check later on with our st. Croix agents and there was no paper filled regarding that matter, as it is required by FARS. The sad fact is, this is not my only encounter with these 'above the law mentality' law men, including federal marshalls without proper paperwork.
