Narrative:
I was flying a cross country flight with a student from stc-axn- brd-stc. En route, I told him to find 9y2. This airport is marked as a public, other than hard surface airport on the sectional. The student found the airport and I decided it would be a good time to practice a soft field landing. I have landed at the airport during the summer before. After touchdown everything seemed normal until we slowed down and then the wheels sank into the snow and brought us to a stop. No damage occurred and we were unable to fly the aircraft out due to the drag from the snow. I found out later the airport is not maintained in the winter.
