Narrative:

Took off from dickson. Dickson is an uncontrolled airport, so void time was obtained. WX was about 500 ft ceiling and about 1 mi visibility. Flight plan filed from MO2 to bna, then to V-140 to azq, V-331 to ecb, then direct I28, ashland boyd, ky. My clearance read a clearance limit, which was the NDB in dickson. No efc was given. Climbing out to 5000 ft to VFR on top, trying to reach center, radio communication not obtained. Tried all kinds of different things, plugging headset direct into the outlet, tried with microphone, push to talk switch, nothing worked. After trying for about 5-7 mins, I squawked 7600, and since my clearance limit was the NDB (on the field) I tried to get down on the NDB approach. No success. Went missed, and flew like I filed for to bna VOR. Switched over to nashville approach, 119.35 and after a couple of mins, we could receive but not transmit. They asked us if we could read them, push identify. I did. They asked us questions, and we replied with pushing identify button. They asked if we would like to come to bna. I pushed identify. They then gave us vectoring and altitude and they cleared us for ILS runway 2L. Did ILS and landed.

THEY THEN GAVE US VECTORING AND ALT AND THEY CLRED US FOR ILS RWY 2L. DID ILS AND LANDED.
