Narrative:
During the takeoff roll of flight GGG-hnl, right after I (first officer) set takeoff power (approximately 70-80 KTS), doors master caution light and aft cargo light illuminated. The takeoff was aborted. The aircraft was then taxied to the ramp area. I (first officer) suggested to the captain to enter the problem in the maintenance log. Upon discussion, the captain elected to not enter the condition in the maintenance log. He instead elected to have the ramp/maintenance personnel cycle the door, secure the door closed and then he elected to continue the flight to honolulu. Upon further discussion, the captain had maintenance check the door again in hnl. This, too, was not entered in the maintenance log. In retrospect, I feel there should have been an entry made in the maintenance log of the original problem in ogg that caused the abort. This is the reason for this report.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CAPT OF A B737 ACR ACFT FAILED TO RECORD AN UNSAFE CARGO DOOR WARNING FOR WHICH AN ABORTED TKOF WAS MADE.
Narrative: DURING THE TKOF ROLL OF FLT GGG-HNL, RIGHT AFTER I (FO) SET TKOF PWR (APPROX 70-80 KTS), DOORS MASTER CAUTION LIGHT AND AFT CARGO LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE TKOF WAS ABORTED. THE ACFT WAS THEN TAXIED TO THE RAMP AREA. I (FO) SUGGESTED TO THE CAPT TO ENTER THE PROB IN THE MAINT LOG. UPON DISCUSSION, THE CAPT ELECTED TO NOT ENTER THE CONDITION IN THE MAINT LOG. HE INSTEAD ELECTED TO HAVE THE RAMP/MAINT PERSONNEL CYCLE THE DOOR, SECURE THE DOOR CLOSED AND THEN HE ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE FLT TO HONOLULU. UPON FURTHER DISCUSSION, THE CAPT HAD MAINT CHK THE DOOR AGAIN IN HNL. THIS, TOO, WAS NOT ENTERED IN THE MAINT LOG. IN RETROSPECT, I FEEL THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ENTRY MADE IN THE MAINT LOG OF THE ORIGINAL PROB IN OGG THAT CAUSED THE ABORT. THIS IS THE REASON FOR THIS RPT.
