Narrative:
On short final to runway 27R at ord, while on the visual to that runway, we got a TCASII RA on previously unrpted helicopter traffic that was departing eastbound between runways 27R and 27L. Ord was aware of this traffic, but had forgotten to report it to us (he apologized as we went around). We got the TCASII RA and being unable to identify the traffic visually, we went around. Followed sops, came back around, and landed normally. Called tower when back on ground and he said he had at least 2 mi of horizontal separation, so no 'near miss' report necessary.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LGT FORCED TO GAR AS HELI DEPARTING CAUSES TCASII RA.
Narrative: ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 27R AT ORD, WHILE ON THE VISUAL TO THAT RWY, WE GOT A TCASII RA ON PREVIOUSLY UNRPTED HELI TFC THAT WAS DEPARTING EBOUND BTWN RWYS 27R AND 27L. ORD WAS AWARE OF THIS TFC, BUT HAD FORGOTTEN TO RPT IT TO US (HE APOLOGIZED AS WE WENT AROUND). WE GOT THE TCASII RA AND BEING UNABLE TO IDENT THE TFC VISUALLY, WE WENT AROUND. FOLLOWED SOPS, CAME BACK AROUND, AND LANDED NORMALLY. CALLED TWR WHEN BACK ON GND AND HE SAID HE HAD AT LEAST 2 MI OF HORIZ SEPARATION, SO NO 'NEAR MISS' RPT NECESSARY.
