Narrative:
After takeoff passenger notified flight attendant that the fueling panel was left open by the fueler. The system is designed to trail in-flight with no adverse effects. We continued on to destination about 40 min away. We need to impress on ground support people the need to complete the job. Even though we should catch it during preflight, we still need support from these people since the preflight was conducted during the fueling process.
